How disability group activities work

A well-planned group activity should be enjoyable, transparent and suitable for each person—not simply several participants placed together.

Activity and group fit

Before confirming a place, ask who the activity is designed for, the expected group size, accessibility, pace and whether the interests and support needs are likely to be compatible.

Support ratio

The number of workers supporting the group affects how much individual assistance is available and how the support charge is calculated. The agreed ratio should be clear before the activity.

What you may pay separately

Entry tickets, meals, drinks, equipment and personal purchases may not be part of the disability support charge. Any participant contribution should be explained before you book.

Transport and meeting points

Confirm whether participants meet at a location or are collected, how travel and kilometres are handled, and the expected return time.

Choice and safety

Participants should know the activity plan, who to contact, what information is required and how individual accessibility, communication and safety needs will be supported.
